Disability and Inclusion Advisor - special focus on Digital Accessibility (f/m/d)

Salary: If based in Burkina Faso: 14,000,000 XOF annually, depending on qualifications, experience and location

About the role:
Reporting to the Technical Director We Can Work, the ‘Disability Inclusion Advisor – Digital Accessibility’ is responsible for developing disability inclusive practices in Higher Education Institutions and Digital Enterprises in the francophone region and beyond through training, coaching and advisory services, both in person and virtually. The role holder will be responsible for meeting deliverables set under the Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program as well as other Technical Support on Disability Inclusion in the Mastercard Foundation portfolio.

Your tasks

Technical support for Scholars Program partners and other Mastercard Foundation programme partners on digital accessibility and assistive technology:

  • Develop and deliver training materials on digital accessibility and assistive technology for Scholars Program partners and other Mastercard Foundation programme partners
  • Provide bilateral guidance (online and in person) to selected Scholars Program partners on digital accessibility and assistive technology
  • Review and provide expert advice on Scholars Program partners and other Mastercard Foundation programme partner proposal development and codesign sessions regarding digital accessibility and assistive technology

Enhance resource development, learning and dissemination for the Scholars Program relating digital accessibility and assistive technology:

  • Develop resources, tools, and content for the We Can Work and CapAble online resource platforms that advance digital accessibility, assistive technology and Disability Inclusion in the EdTech space, in close collaboration with the We Can Work Technical Team.
  • Document and disseminate relevant lessons learned regarding disability mainstreaming especially in the Digital Economy space, including the composition of case studies and stories of change.
  • Participate and contribute to conferences, and learning events that relate to the topic of assistive technology, EdTech and digital accessibility.

Technical support for Scholars Program partners in francophone Africa:

  • Provide disability inclusion training to select Scholars Program partners partners in francophone Africa
  • Guide Scholars Program partners through an institutional change process
  • Monitor progress of Scholars Program partners and other Mastercard Foundation programme partners against agreed deliverables, such as developing or implementing a disability action plan
  • Measure and report on progress on implementing disability action plans

Responsible for implementing Master Trainers Training for selected francophone Scholars Program partners:

  • Coordinate nominations and planning for the Master Trainers Training with the selected Scholars Program partners
  • Develop and deliver training materials on for Master Trainers Training in close collaboration with the We Can Work Technical team
  • Deliver training session with selected Master Trainers
  • Document and report on training outcome

Facilitate and provide expert input for international Scholars Program meetings:

  • Co-facilitate quarterly Community of Practice for disability inclusion focal points of Scholars Program partners with the We Can Work Technical Team
  • Chair technical sessions of the Community of Practice or Inclusion Working Group on digital accessibility and assistive technology.

Your profile

  • University level qualification relating to ICT, software engineering, or related field plus courses or certificate that relate to Assistive Technology or Digital Accessibility
  • At least 3 years of work experience in the area of Inclusive Education, Digital Accessibility or Disability Inclusion
  • Demonstrated expertise in the area of Digital Accessibility or Assistive Technology
  • Familiar with Adult learning/ participatory training methodologies
  • High level of exposure to barriers that persons with disabilities face and practical solutions to overcome those barriers, either through life experience or through previous work experience
  • Experienced trainer and/or facilitator with experience in designing and conducting skills-building workshops and other capacity development approaches with a variety of stakeholders in an accessible and clear manner.
  • Fluent language skills in French and English
  • Show great initiative and be able to work well in a team and independently
  • Ability to produce timely and deliver high-quality results
