The Position
We are looking for an experienced, team-oriented, and dynamic System Engineer to strengthen the global IT Operations and Laboratory Manufacturing team at Boehringer Ingelheim.
In the role as IT system lead you will be connecting internal and external business partners with IT colleagues and be responsible for systems such as our new cold chain management system.
The cold chain management system is planned to be used to track exposure times of temperature sensitive materials along the supply chain and will be integrated with our warehouse management and manufacturing execution system landscape.

Depending on your experience and skills, this position can either be filled as Associate System Engineer or Senior System Engineer.
Tasks & responsibilities
- As IT System Engineer, you will closely collaborate with our local production sites, our Global Business Service organization, and external partners.
- You will be responsible for the planning, development, testing, implementation, technical operation, maintenance, and changes of global solutions in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
- You proactively coordinate system related tasks and ensure they are performed accordingly.
- You will be responsible for maintaining system architecture and the system documentation within the system life cycle.
- You will be supporting rollout projects on our local production sites around the globe.
As a Senior System Engineer, you will have the following additional responsibilities:
- You will participate in medium / large IT projects or lead them independently.
- To support the adaptation, simplification and automation of IT services and processes, you will be in continuous coordination with other IT Experts.
- Your problem-solving skills will be showcased as you handle escalations and orchestrate solution implementations.
- With your commitment to excellence, you will drive quality assurance alignment, ensuring the solutions we provide meets compliance standards.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, business informatics, engineering or similar field with ideally few years of relevant working experience in the IT environment
- Knowledge of operating computerized systems within the GxP environment
- Experience with computerized systems design, built, validation, and rollout
- Experience with the pharmaceutical manufacturing processes in development and/or commercial operations will be a huge plus
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills in German and English
Additional requirements as Senior System Engineer:
- Master's degree in computer science, business informatics, engineering or a comparable qualification
- Several years of professional experience
- Comprehensive knowledge of implementation and operating computerized systems
- Project management experience in medium/large IT projects
