Business Development Director (f/m/d)

A Snapshot of Your Day
As a Business Development Director for the Petrochemical industry at Siemens Energy, your day will revolve around developing and implementing market entry strategies to ensure successful launches and sustainable growth for our compression products, with a special focus on decarbonization projects. You will identify and target key project companies within both new and existing markets to expand our customer base and meet our strategic objectives. Cultivating and maintaining strong relationships with project companies and their stakeholders, including investors, lenders, governmental agencies, off-takers, O&Ms, and industry influencers, will be crucial in fostering long-term business opportunities.

In your role, you will establish and manage strategic partnerships to enhance our product offerings and increase market presence, particularly in the realm of decarbonization. Tailoring our compression solutions to meet the specific needs and realities of each market, you will effectively communicate the unique value proposition to potential customers. Proactively identifying emerging opportunities where our compression technology can be applied will position Siemens Energy as a leader in innovative, sustainable solutions. Early engagement with customers and Siemens Energy supporting organizations will be key to your success, allowing you to influence project directions from the outset.

Additionally, you will analyze and understand the factors driving Final Investment Decisions (FIDs) in select markets, enabling a more focused and strategic approach to business development. Bringing insights and perceptions from specific markets, you will drive innovation in our compression offerings, ensuring they meet evolving customer needs and market demands. Your expertise and strategic thinking will be instrumental in making a significant impact on Siemens Energy's growth and success in the Petrochemical industry, particularly in advancing decarbonization efforts.

How You'll Make an Impact

  • Market Entry Strategy: Develop and implement strategies for entering new markets, ensuring a successful launch and sustainable growth for our compression products
  • Market Expansion: Identify and target key project companies within both new and existing markets to expand our customer base and meet our strategic objectives
  • Relationship Building: Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with Project Companies and their stakeholders, including investors, lenders, governmental agencies, off-takers, O&Ms and industry influencers to foster long-term business opportunities
  • Strategic Partnerships: Establish and manage strategic alliances to enhance our product offerings and increase market presence
  • Value Selling: Tailor our compression solutions to meet the specific needs and realities of each market, effectively communicating the unique value proposition to potential customers
  • Early Opportunity Detection: Proactively identify emerging opportunities where our compression technology can be applied, positioning the company as a leader in innovative solutions


What You Bring

  • Educational Background: Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business Administration or a related field. An MBA or equivalent advanced degree is preferred
  • Proven Experience: Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in a leadership role within project companies, with active participation in all stages of project development within the industry. Must have a track record of successfully driving projects to Final Investment Decision (FID). Experience with projects that included a high degree of innovation is a differentiator
  • Market Knowledge: Deep understanding of the industry, market trends, and competitive landscape, with the ability to identify new business opportunities. The candidate should be very familiar with the typical commercial structures within the market and how they evolve as the project matures, with direct experience in contract management, negotiation, and decision-making
  • Strategic Thinking: Strong ability to develop and implement strategic plans that align with company goals and drive business growth
  • Leadership Skills: Demonstrated leadership and team management skills, with experience in leading cross-functional capture teams and driving performance
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly and persuasively to stakeholders at all levels
