Commodity Manager (f/m/d) Third Party Packaging - Direct Materials

The Third-Party Packaging Commodity Manager will be responsible for identifying, qualifying, and managing third-party companies that provide services such as packaging, balance of plant (BOP), mechanical and electrical packages, and engineering services beyond the traditional scope of Siemens Energy. The role involves developing medium- and long-term sourcing strategies, negotiating contracts, and building long-term partnerships with suppliers to support energy projects. The individual will collaborate with internal partners and ensure the timely delivery of high-quality services aligned with project objectives.
How You'll Make an Impact
- Identify, evaluate, and support the qualification of suppliers that offer packaging services, balance-of-plant (BOP), mechanical and electrical packages, and engineering services; Develop and manage a pipeline of service providers that align with Siemens Energy's project needs in cost savings, on-time delivery, quality, and lead times
- Build and maintain long-term strategic relationships with suppliers, ensuring performance standards are met while fostering innovation and continuous improvement
- Lead the development and negotiation of complex contracts and agreements ensuring that agreements are clearly structured and include favorable commercial terms related to pricing, and risk. Ensure that all contracts meet corporate and regulatory requirements including cooperation with our legal department in case of complex issues
- Develop and implement sourcing strategies for third-party services that support cost-efficiency, quality, and timely delivery of services for Siemens Energy's global projects. Ensure cost transparency for the material field
- Work closely with internal partners, including procurement, engineering, and project management to align procurement strategies with project requirements and technical specifications; Lead cross-functional international commodity teams and circles
- Continuously monitor and evaluate the performance of suppliers against contractual commitments, key performance indicators, and service-level agreements (SLAs). Ensure contingency plans are in place for critical suppliers. In case of deviations lead supplier development activities and ensure contractual rights are enforced
What You Bring
- University Degree or equivalent experience in Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field
- Professional experience in at least one of the fields: Strategic Procurement, Commodity Management, Strategy Consulting, Project Management, Engineering
- Strong experience and track record in advanced negotiation concepts, contract negotiations as well as strong understanding of global procurement practices and experience in managing relationships with service providers outside the traditional Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) scope
- Experience working with packaging and engineering service providers for energy and/or industrial projects as well as knowledge of renewable energy and emerging market sourcing strategies is preferred
- Advanced Business English is mandatory, German is desired at professional working proficiency level; Willingness to travel domestically and internationally up to 30% of time
- Experience managing Long Term Contracts and negotiating complex terms and conditions as well as excellent change management skills and demonstrated ability to lead change
