Your team

You will be part of the Security and Safety Division in the Directorate Administration. Our Division protects the executives, staff, operations, assets and premises of the ECB worldwide, 24 hours a day, seven days a week. 

The Division consists of two sections. You will join the Security Risk Management and Governance (SRM) Section, which organises transport services for senior ECB executives and VIP visitors to the ECB. Beyond this, it also monitors relevant data and information related to the ECB’s physical risk situation.

In your role as Driver, you will be part of a team providing transport services to ECB decision-makers as they go about their daily business. You will contribute to the smooth running of major ECB events and act as the first point of contact for high-ranking officials visiting the ECB. You may also be assigned ad hoc tasks related to the ECB’s transport activities.

Your role

As a Driver you will:

• provide reliable, high-quality driving services for one of the ECB’s decision-makers and occasionally also for other VIPs, ECB representatives and external visitors; 
• provide driving services in the Frankfurt am Main area and occasionally also elsewhere in Germany and other European countries;
• use vehicles from the ECB’s fleet, ensuring that they are in good running order and that both the interior and exterior are in an excellent condition; 
• arrange for vehicle maintenance, servicing and repairs, as well as vehicle checks prior to driving assignments.

Qualifications, experience and skills

Essential: 

• at least three or, ideally, five years’ experience in the provision of high-quality chauffeur services for high-ranking officials;
• a valid European driver’s licence and a clean criminal record certificate;
• an advanced (C1) command of English and an intermediate (B1) command of at least one other official language of the EU, according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.

Desired: 

• a proven track record of total reliability and punctuality at all times; 
• professional training in safe-driving techniques and an ability to intervene in emergency situations;
• computer literacy and familiarity with MS Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook);
• up-to-date first aid training; 
• knowledge of the Frankfurt am Main area.

You have the ability to proactively support others and you ensure your tasks are accomplished. You understand and respect other people’s diverse perspectives and are able to adapt to change. You deal with incomplete information well and deliver in line with stakeholder needs.

Working modalities

Your duties will include frequent travel within Europe, sometimes at short notice and outside of standard working hours. You may need to work rotating shifts (early and late shifts), carry out on-call duties (including at weekends and overnight) and be able to reach the ECB’s premises in less than an hour.

Temporary appointments may be extended or made permanent subject to organisational needs and budgetary constraints. This may result in a staff member with a non-convertible fixed-term contract being offered a convertible contract in accordance with the ECB Conditions of Employment.

The recruitment process for this position will be conducted onsite. It will include an interview and applicants will be required to take a driving test.
