Your role:
As the Head of Engineering for Healthcare Digital, Data & IT - Data & AI Solutions, you will expand & spearhead a talented team of cloud and DevOps engineers, front-end developers and data engineers in leveraging state-of-the-art technology to design, build & evolve scalable, performant & secure Data & AI solutions for Healthcare R&D. As a leader of leads and senior engineers, it will be your responsibility to coach your organization to become the best they can be.
You will collaborate with Heads of Product Management, Architecture & AI and DDITIT Business Partners to plan product roadmaps and build cross-functional product teams that deliver on our R&D ambitions. Your leadership will be instrumental in promoting a culture of technological excellence and innovation, guiding the team through the entire product lifecycle from inception to deployment and beyond.
In the role of Head of Engineering, you will lead and develop a high-performing engineering team throughout the entire software development lifecycle. Your collaboration with leaders in Product Management, Architecture & AI, and R&D will be essential in understanding business objectives, refining product roadmaps, and establishing cross-functional teams that deliver impactful solutions.
You will play a crucial role in attracting, hiring, onboarding, and retaining exceptional engineering talent, while also expanding the team's technical expertise with a focus on diverse and forward-looking skills aligned with our Data & AI technology landscape. Championing engineering excellence, you will coach your team on best practices and agile methodologies, setting clear standards for practical application.
Your leadership will ensure a strong emphasis on performance, reliability, and compliance with our company's standards in every solution delivered. By fostering a culture that empowers engineers from diverse backgrounds, you will encourage collaboration, experimentation, and continuous learning. Staying current with advancements in cloud, front-end, data, and AI technologies will be vital as you support the technical architecture of our applications, ensuring quality and scalability in product development.
The position can be filled in Germany or Spain.
Who you are:
- You have a Bachelor's or Master's degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related field.
- You bring extensive experience (10+ years) in software engineering and technology leadership, with a focus on cloud-based solutions.
- You excel at building and scaling global teams, with a strong focus on people management, talent development, and fostering a collaborative team culture.
- You have a proven track record in designing and implementing large-scale cloud systems.
- You hold a deep understanding of cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Snowflake) and associated technologies (Azure DevOps)
- You have expertise in microservices architecture, API design, and containerization (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes)
- You possess strong knowledge of security best-practices and GxP compliance standards in cloud environments
- You have exceptional communication skills and can engage effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders to drive alignment and influence key decisions.
