Your role:

During your internship your work will focus on the development and optimization of an image processing and analysis tool to process and analyse images captured by optical microscopes, scanning electron microscopes and transmission electron microscopes. Furthermore, you will apply this tool on products, e.g. pharmaceutical products, semiconductor materials and samples from other innovative Research and Development projects to deepen our understanding on product performance. Manual image segmentation and training of the segmentation model will also be part of your work. A further topic will be the automatization of processing of large data amounts.

Who you are:

• You are currently studying optical technology, image processing, physics, informatics, or related fields in the second half of your studies.
• You can work independently, show initiative and very good organizational skills.
• A deep knowledge of programming (Python and related ML libraries, e.g. TensorFlow, PyTorch, Keras, basic knowledge in JavaScript) and image processing (e.g. library OpenCV) are required.
• Strong background in machine learning and data science (e.g. statistical analysis and cloud-based ML platforms) is needed.
• Excellent spoken and written German and/or English is imperative.
• Strong attention to detail and analytical skills.

Duration: at least 6 months, starting in January 2025 or later
