Tasks
- You are in charge of the technical integration and operation of distributed energy resources (DERs) into our virtual power plant platform, including large-scale BESS, biogas plants, CHPs, solar parks and wind farms.
- You are involved in projects which develop, build, commission and operate industrial-sized DERs around Europe (focus DE, UK, NL)
- You specify, implement, maintain and troubleshoot the technical interfaces between the DERs and our VPP using common industrial protocols (e.g. Modbus TCP/RTU, IEC 104, MQTT)
- You act as level 1 support for our Short Term Trading team in case of asset, system or communi-cation outages and coordinate necessary resolution steps with internal and external partners
- You establish a partner and supplier network which enables the international rollout and ensures reliable asset operation
- You act as the technical business interface to the software development team
- You ensure that the technical solution meets the requirements for the asset to be marketed on relevant energy and flexibility markets
Qualifications
- You have a university degree in electrical engineering or comparable studies
- You have gained at least two years of relevant professional experience in the technical integration and operation of (industrial) Decentral Energy Resources
- Strong problem-solving skills, with proficiency in programming languages (Javascript, Node-RED, or Python) being an advantage
- Experience with industrial automation protocols (Modbus, IEC 104, or MQTT), SCADA systems, and virtual power plants
- Knowledge of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP), VPN and firewall configuration is a plus
- You have a passion for supporting the green energy transition and take pride in developing smart solutions for our customers
- Knowledge of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP), with strong skills in configuring routers, troubleshooting connections and practical experience in working with test benches to configure routers and communication boxes.
- Ability to interpret technical diagrams describing customer site setups and assess connectivity or operational requirements
- You enjoy working in a diverse team across the E.ON organization in Europe
- You have excellent spoken and written communication skills in English, good command of another European language is seen as a plus
