Senior / Executive Specialist Transport & Warehouse Safety Iberia (m/f/d)

RESPONSIBILITIES
As a Transport Safety Specialist for our EHSQ Services Team based in Berlin, you are part of the Transport and Distribution Safety (TDS) expert community at BASF, which ensures compliance with legal requirements for Dangerous Goods, as well as BASF internal requirements based on Responsible Care® System. In this role you are responsible for supporting the EMEA TDS community and TDS support for Spain.
- You ensure transportation safety and dangerous goods compliance at all production and logistics units of BASF in Spain.
- You are responding to internal and external requests, represent BASF Iberia in associations and are the expert contact for authorities.
- You are responsible for preparing professional training material, conducting transportation safety reviews, monitoring the transportation safety performance and strive for continuous improvement.
- You investigate transport incidents, determine the root causes, initiate corrective measures and prepare risk assessments for specific transport scenarios.
- For Warehouse Safety, your main tasks include coordinating the warehouse safety assessment plan for EMEA in collaboration with procurement/insurance, BASF’s Fire department in Ludwigshafen, training and developing auditors to meet requirements and carrying out assessments.
- Additionally, you will be the custodian of all Warehouse Safety related documentation as well as be responsible for coordinating the Warehouse Safety Community in EMEA.
QUALIFICATIONS
- degree in Chemistry, Engineering, EHS or a comparable study and at least 5 years of professional experience working in a manufacturing environment, ideally in a safety or transport or warehouse related role
- certificates for the transport of dangerous goods (e.g. IATA, IMDG, etc) as well as experience in fire safety auditing/process safety, ideally supported by a relevant qualification
- strong communication skills in English and Spanish, ability to work independently, in a team and to influence others
- excellent IT skills and able to specify and apply digital solutions
- willingness to travel
