Your team
You will be part of the Security and Safety Division in the Directorate Administration. Our Directorate has 330 staff providing all buildings-related and facilities management services for premises owned or leased by the European Central Bank (ECB).
We are currently looking for a Technical Security Specialist to join our Security Engineering team in the Security Operations Section. The team is made up of five members of staff responsible for the operation, further development and maintenance of the physical security systems at all ECB premises. It also conducts contract supervision and technical supervision for external service providers carrying out related tasks.
The Security Engineering team provides technical expertise to ensure cost and quality control in the operation and further development of the physical security systems and the related technical infrastructure. We work closely with numerous stakeholders in the Security and Safety Division as well as with the Premises Division and IT teams.

Your role
As a Technical Security Specialist you will:
- contribute to the operation and maintenance of the physical and logical access control environment of our IoT system landscape;
- steer the work of our external service providers and optimise our vendor management;
- coordinate business requirements and develop data concepts for the implementation of our long-term maintenance strategy;
- provide technical support in the Division and continuously improve systems and related services for our internal customers;
- support the service managers in the Section with financial and technical analyses of data and trends.

Qualifications, experience and skills
Essential:
- a bachelor’s degree or equivalent in information technology, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, industrial engineering or another relevant field (see How you can join us for details on degree equivalences);
- in addition to the above, a minimum of three years’ experience in managing external suppliers and developing a supplier strategy in the field of digital or physical security;
- practical experience related to physical and logical access control including experience in setting up long-term maintenance strategies;
- experience in defining and applying performance indicators for external vendor management;
- an understanding of the NIS2 Directive and its implications for physical security;
- an advanced (C1) command of English and an intermediate (B1) command of at least one other official language of the EU, according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.
Desired:
- an understanding of data protection regulations;
- experience working in the field of physical or digital security at a national central bank, national supervisory authority, international organisation or large company;
- an intermediate (B1) command of German.
