Our team is responsible for the Recording and Aircraft Localisation System, which is basically installed in every Airbus aircraft. This system comprises the capture of flight recordings in the so-called “Black Box”, the related data management and a new aircraft tracking function. This function automatically identifies if an aircraft is in an emergency situation and if so sends an alert to ground via a dedicated satellite link. The overall system has had a significant contribution to today’s level of air-travel safety. We keep evolving the system for example with projects on ejectable recorders and satellite based recording. Also, we support airlines in operating the system and for troubleshooting.
Our team is part of the Airbus Engineering organisation. We are 13 people, multiple nationalities and located in Hamburg. We belong to a larger domain which is mainly located in Toulouse, France. Our daily business we run with partner organisations across Europe, America and Asia. Now we look for a new team member who enjoys working in such an international environment. Does it sound appealing to you?
Definition working student
Working students are students who are enrolled at a University or some other institution of higher education, and who are employed in a reasonably long, fixed-term position parallel to their studies. This position must not be confused with an internship or with the possibility of writing a final thesis.
This employment usually takes place directly on the company's premises. A working student's main focus remains on their studies, which is why, during term-time, working students are not allowed to work more than 20 hours per week.
Working students therefore usually work near their place of study, so as to conveniently combine studying and employment.
Your location
You will be working at the largest production site for civil aircraft situated in Hamburg. Its location on the southern banks of the river Elbe includes the option to commute by ferry. Experience the special flair of Hamburg in your spare time where vibrant cosmopolitan culture meets nautic legacy.
Finkenwerder
Are you wondering how you actually get from university to Airbus? Your working student position is at the Finkenwerder plant and you can take the ferry from Teufelsbrück to the Airbus ferry terminal and back to the university in the morning and at noon. Alternatively, you can take the ferry to Finkenwerder and then ride your bike for about another 15 minutes to the main entrance.
