Energy markets are rapidly changing. Decarbonisation, renewables expansion and technological change will further accelerate and RWE is planning to invest into future technologies such as Renewables, Electrolysers and (Hydrogen-ready) Gas generation. For these strategic investment decisions, deal valuations and long-term planning purposes, analysis and forecasts are provided by our team for the whole RWE group.

You will communicate and explain your findings together with our team to the main stakeholders such as Commercial Analysis, Strategy, Regulatory Affairs, Controlling and Finance to support portfolio and investment decisions, political activities and financial planning.

About the role

• Monitor and analyse global energy demand trends, especially also USA markets, dependent on impact of technologies and cost developments, fuel commodity prices and global macro-economic indicators.
• Analyse relevant fundamental drivers and assess their long-term impact on the forecasts.
• Further enhance existing energy demand scenarios and update forecasts on regular basis.
• Forecasting of fuel commodity prices.
• Work together with commercial functions within RWE Supply & Trading GmbH and the RWE group to collect the best available knowledge.
• Upload forecasts to our databases and communicate findings to the team as well as to stakeholders by presentations.
• Interpret model results to provide decision-oriented services to support portfolio and investment decisions, political activities and financial planning.
• Answer requests on an ad-hoc basis.
• Understand and evaluate external studies and forecasts.
• Attending conferences to acquire additional information for our market research.

Job requirements and experience

• Successfully completed university degree in Business, Economics, Engineering, Finance, Mathematics or equivalent.
• High interest in (long-term) analysis of energy markets.
• Very good statistical, analytical and programming skills.
• Confident handling of Microsoft Office products, especially Microsoft Excel / VBA and PowerPoint.
• Proactive personality with the willingness to actively contribute.
• Structured working style.
• Decent communication skills with the ability to simplify complexity and to influence decisions.
• Good team player, high level of self-motivation and flexibility, ability to work in a competitive environment and to meet tight deadlines.
• English as a prerequisite.

Advantageous, bus not essential

• First work experience in energy business would be an advantage.
• German would be a plus, additional languages are welcome.
