Technical Contracting Engineer (m/w/d)

As a Technical Contracting Engineer in Project Engineering Germany, you will take on a specialised role within wind, solar and battery projects, combining technical expertise, contract management and project coordination. You will work in a team with colleagues from Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Procurement, Development and Construction and you will ensure an efficient realisation of our renewable energy projects in close coordination with these departments.

In addition, you will have access to the RWE Technical Contracting Community with highly experienced, nationally and internationally recognised experts.

As a Technical Contracting Engineer (m/f/d) you will play a central role in the tendering process for wind, solar and battery projects. Your tasks will include

  • Management of the technical contracting process: Control and management of the technical contracting process in close coordination with the specialist departments, such as Procurement, Engineering and the German Development and Construction teams
  • Creation and coordination of technical requirements: Responsibility for the creation and coordination of project-specific requirements for construction and electrical trades, taking into account RWE's technical standards and requirements
  • Technical bid evaluation: Carrying out the technical evaluation of bids, identifying and evaluating deviations and making recommendations
  • Negotiation management: Management and coordination of technical negotiations through to contracts ready for signature
  • Support in the development and introduction of technical specifications, standards and requirements
  • Identifying and following up on lessons learnt from the tendering and awarding process and supporting initiatives to reduce the levelised cost of energy (LCoE)

Your Profile

  • Successfully completed university degree in an engineering programme, ideally in civil engineering, electrical engineering, industrial engineering or a comparable degree
  • At least 2 years of relevant professional experience in project management, technical contract management or similar, ideally in the wind, solar, battery industry or other infrastructure projects
  • Good technical knowledge in the technical evaluation and negotiation of contracts
  • Knowledge of relevant German norms and standards
  • Initial experience in leading or coordinating interdisciplinary teams
  • Project management skills, ability to plan and organise tasks independently and to prioritise
  • Strong negotiating skills, good assertiveness and ability to discuss technical, operational and commercial issues with colleagues and business partners
  • Ability to work in a team and interest in interdisciplinary tasks, combined with the ability to build sustainable working relationships in international teams across regions and functions
  • Independent, structured and solution-orientated way of working
  • Business fluent German and good English skills
  • Valid driving licence and willingness to travel within Germany, usually on a one-day basis
